Today (21st July) is the Feast of St Lawrence of Brindisi, Capuchin priest and doctor of the Church. He is a remarkable saint - inspirational for his zealous preaching, his courageous missionary journeys, his soliciting peace between warring nations and factions, his extraordinary knowledge of languages and the Scriptures, his devotion to the liturgy (he had special permission to spend many hours celebrating Mass), and his numerous writings - especially on the Blessed Virgin Mary. As Vicar General of the Capuchin Order he would visit the friars crossing over the Alps on foot (barefoot!). You can read more on his life here.
