Hatubesilolo, Sacred Heart & Corpus Christi

Friday, 19 June 2015

Fr Luan updates us on some of the many activities taking place recently in the Capuchin mission at Tibar:

Once a month we do a pastoral visit to the Hatubesilolo community up in the mountains. We also invited the Franciscan Sisters of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary to accompany us.

Our arrival is greeted by the locals

Sister Krisma gives catechism.

After Mass, we gathered outside under the shade for a chat

Br. Mateus hands our bread (which he made in the morning) to children

Br. Nicolau talks with children

The month of June is the month dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus, and our community at Tibar does a procession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart of Jesus goes to each oratory and stays there for 4 days before visiting the next.

Since one of the oratories is far away up in the mountain, we use cars for the procession

Up we go

At the arrival at the oratory, the Sacred Heart of Jesus is welcomed by children. This place is called Fahiten (which means pig dung)

Br. Antonio celebrates Mass

Sunday Mass of Corpus Christi. Everyone is ready for the procession

Altar servers are leading the procession

Br. Antonio carries Jesus

The Procession goes from the church to the sisters of Handmaids of the Eucharist’s convent

The street is very clean during this Sunday morning. It is usually littered with cow dung. I think the catechists told people to tie their cows on Saturday night.
